The Work of Leadership

They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. (Acts 2:42-49 NIV)

For the church to grow and be effective the people must have sound teaching and be in constant fellowship before they are able to evangelise.

The work is not all up to the senior pastor, it also includes his Leadership Team.

  • Leaders must frequently pray that evangelism will result from the church walking in obedience to Jesus’ words.
  • Leaders must share the ministry - they should not weaken themselves and their ministry by doing all the work. In other words “Delegate.”
  • Leaders must give church first place.
  • Leaders must submit to the guidance of the Holy Spirit in decision making and to release their ministry.
  • Leaders must be certain that the whole council of God is taught, to live in obedience to the gospel and see the results in evangelism and spiritual growth.
